The published effective date

Miami-Dade’s permitting portal states that the Florida Building Code Ninth (2026) Edition becomes effective December 31, 2026. ICC’s Ninth Edition publication also lists that date. Confirm the current notice for the department reviewing your project before relying on a submission schedule.

Miami-Dade identifies an earlier portal cutoff

The County notice says online submissions after close of business at 4 p.m. on December 30, 2026 must comply with the 2026 edition. Treat that as a County-specific instruction; do not assume every municipality uses the same operational cutoff.

Coordinate with the designer now

Ask your design professional which code edition the plans use and whether the package is ready for submission. Confirm how the department treats incomplete applications, revisions and existing records. Do not assume that uploading a partial package secures a particular code edition.

Make a submission checklist

Check the jurisdiction, document completeness, signatures and seals, contractor information and outside review needs. All Permit Pros can help coordinate the administrative steps and follow-up while the responsible professionals confirm technical compliance.
