Keep the complete notice
Save every page, the case number, property address, issuing department and any response or hearing dates. Explain what work occurred and what records you already have. A photograph alone may leave out the actual action requested.
Research before assuming the solution
The issue may involve work without a permit, a permit left open, unfinished inspections or zoning requirements. Miami-Dade’s assistance program specifically checks building and zoning violations, open permits and applications. Identify the record and the required resolution before creating another application.
Gather the supporting documents
Bring plans, a survey if available, prior permits, contractor information and current correspondence. If the notice requires technical changes, the project may need an appropriate design professional or contractor. Permit coordination does not substitute for their work.
Track closure separately
Submitting an application does not by itself close a violation. Ask what approvals, inspections and written closure are required. For a hearing, lien dispute or legal interpretation, consult the appropriate qualified adviser.
